  • Overview

    The training coordinator is responsible for supporting the learning and development department at Gerber Collision & Glass.  Based out of our corporate office in Elmhurst, the training coordinator will have primarily administrative responsibilities that include coordinating the participation of Gerber employees in I-CAR training, compiling and completing reports, completing training learner management tasks, planning lunches, activities, and outside sites for training events, working with field management to coordinate training, and preparing materials for training events.  The position reports to the director of learning and development

    Responsibilities

    • Coordinates the participation of body shop employees in I-CAR training in a given geographical area.  This includes working with managers in the field to identify training needs, register participants in I-CAR classes, and communicate changes to the I-CAR scheduled classes to the shops and the participants.
    • Works closely with I-CAR to facilitate improved processes.  This might include occasional visits to I-CAR in Hoffman Estates.
    • Works with body shop general managers, market managers, and regional vice presidents to encourage the timely completion of I-CAR classes so the company retains I-CAR Gold Class recognition.
    • Manages the scheduling of our MDP courses (including all leadership and management courses), including marketing of courses through our Intranet and registration of participants.
    • Completes all learner management functions, including registration, reminder emails, invitations, learner evaluations, post-event record keeping, and LMS records.
    • Prepares materials, including making copies, for all training events, including shipping materials to remote training sites.
    • Takes responsibility for all Elmhurst based training equipment, such as audio visual equipment in the training center, training center furnishings, and the color copier.
    • Assists when the training facilities are used by those other than Boyd training staff.
    • Plans and coordinates lodging, lunches, snacks, and external events which occur during training classes.
    • Builds reports detailing training activities across our department.
    • Imagines better and more efficient ways to complete tasks, such as achieving I-CAR Gold Class, registering learners, etc.
    • Provides administrative support to the technical trainers, including providing learning materials, ordering supplies, and assisting with reports.
    • Assists the technical trainers with other Elmhurst based support, including IT.
    • Assists during the delivery of training events as necessary, including distributing materials.  This might include some travel.
    • Provides other Elmhurst based administrative support as needed.
    • Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred; some college required.
    • At least 2 years experience in an administrative support position.
    • Very strong oral and written communication skills required.
    • High level of independently planning and organizing work with minimal supervision.
    • Must be very flexible in many ways, such as being willing to build reports, present to management, and unclog paper jams in the copier.
    • Must have a helpful customer service approach to the job.
    • Should have an interest in a career in corporate learning and development.
    • Knowledge of computer applications, including the Internet, Google platform, and Microsoft Office applications.
    • Must be available for occasional travel, including some overnight travel.
