Job Description

Director of Strategic Sourcing:

SUMMARY: This key management position is responsible to set strategy and execute initiatives to drive down the total cost of parts, materials, supplies, services and equipment while also achieving continuous improvement in the Boyd supply chain performance.  The position will direct the negotiation of long term supply agreements with strategic suppliers as well as identify cost reduction targets and strategies across all parts, materials, supplies, services and equipment groupings, including:

  • Develops sourcing strategies for all parts, supplies, services  and equipment
  • Manages supplier selection and negotiates pricing and service level agreements
  • Leads the organization in its shift from a decentralized functional approach to center-led sourcing & procurement strategy
  • Identifies and manages cost reduction initiatives within the supply base
  • Monitors and reports in supplier performance against SLA’s
  • Manages sourcing activities to support new initiatives


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops and executes supply strategies for parts, supplies, services  and equipment. Keeps abreast of and suggests implementation of new technologies and innovations brought forth by suppliers in the industry to provide cost reductions and product improvements.
  • Identifies, selects and develops suppliers based on the requirements of Boyd and their customers. Considers all aspects of requirements including cost and quality. Develops, manages, promotes and improves strategic alliances and relationships with suppliers under his responsibility. Works to develops lasting partnerships with preferred suppliers.
  • Builds a strong rapport with internal stakeholders to communicate the strategy, seek input and buy-in, and contribute to collaborative project / strategy execution.
  • Leads and supports a cross functional  team to identify and execute on cost reduction initiatives. Effectively manages this team to achieve project goals and meet project deadlines.
  • Establish cost reduction targets and strategies and direct their execution.
  • Manages the negotiation of all annual pricing changes.
  • Keeps informed of market trends and cost drivers relative to materials and components and makes recommendations designed to reduce the costs and improve methods for parts, supplies, services  and equipment.
  • Performs spend analysis and market testing to identify opportunity areas for cost reduction.
  • Reviewed purchase activity to identify ways to reduce the number of suppliers to improve overall quality, service and price.
  • Facilitates and/or conducts regular business and performance reviews with suppliers’ management to assess and evaluate their means of ensuring continuous improvement in quality and cost savings.
  • Project manages the evaluation, certification and implementation of new suppliers.
  • Provide regular status updates to executive management on sourcing initiatives, market analytics, and cost saving strategies.
  • Other duties as assigned

    • Proven Director level leadership skills and experience preferred


  • Minimum 5 years of experience in international sourcing, Automotive preferred



  • University degree in business, finance or enginerring preferred
  • CPM, CSCP or similar designation and asset
